Quantum Error Correction: The Game
This suite of games, aimed at educating the public about science, is based on problems that arise in an active research field: that of quantum error correction. By playing the games, members of the public will be able to learn about the kinds of problems tackled by scientists, as well as the methods they can use to solve them.
As with many popular games, like Sudoku, Minesweeper Battleships and others, these games are based on a simple grid and have straightforward rules. Each game can be played on different grid sizes and difficulty levels, and rewards ever more sophisticated solution methods. They therefore offer a continual challenge to players. The games will be designed such that players can engage with the scientific background to any degree they wish.
Planned release date is summer 2016 on both the iOS and Android platforms.
The games are being developed by James Wootton in the group of external page Daniel Loss at the University of Basel.
