Optically locate the position of a graphene flake

In the external page Quantum Electronics Group of Prof. Morpurgo at UniGE we have developed a simple technique of 3-dimensional positioning using an optical microscope. This technique allows to optically locate the position of a graphene flake suspended on a thin polymer film and to precisely align it on a target substrate, in order to bring them both in contact.

The thin polymer membrane is adhered to a glass transfer slide which is clamped onto the arm of a micromanipulator mounted on an optical microscope. With this technique, the graphene can be positioned to within a few micrometres of the target position.
