Temporal shaping of narrow-band optical photons for interaction with atoms

National University of Singapore

Interaction between single photons and single atoms requires either optical cavity techniques, or the special matching of temporal modes of single photons to be effective. Here, a technique is presented to prepare single heralded photons form an entangled photon pair prepared in four-wave mixing in an atomic cloud that is suitable for absorption by a single atom.
