Bose polaron dynamics in real space

The behavior of a mobile impurity coupled to a surrounding medium is one of the paradigmatic problems of many-body physics. An impurity in an interacting BEC, the Bose polaron, is a particularly interesting example: at weak coupling it behaves as a quasiparticle of enhanced mass, while at strong binding it can even form bound states with the medium that lead to long-time coherent dynamics in time and space. The polaron thus provides a key to understand Bose-Fermi mixtures at strong interaction.
